Like many people, when considering what film to watch at 2am, I think about myself. And since I’m a man who is attracted to men, I love seeing films with male characters who share that same attraction. Netflix has a fairly decent pool of films with male on male love and I would like to take this opportunity to share with you, the films I most appreciate.
This film follows the life of three young man loving men sharing an apartment in Seattle. The main character, X, is a hustler who avoids intimacy, until…. Well, I don’t want to ruin it for you, but the point is, it’s very easy to mess up a film like this. It can either be too campy or too “shirtless Caucasian male” and this down to earth film is neither of those things.
Rated: Looking for a few laughs and to relate to a story without getting too emotionally connected.
This one is going to make you feel things on the inside. I don’t want to ruin the plot for you, so I will confirm what the poster implies. There is a man, he loves a man, he is married. It obviously gets far more complicated than that, but you have to watch to find out. It’s totally worth your time.
Rated: “I really want to live vicariously through character and have an emotional hour and a half… possibly cry.”
Who cares, don’t watch it.
Rated: How dare you create a fake documentary that feels cheaper than a cheeseburger at McDonald’s and then DARE to have a sex scene that allows us to see that a man who is currently being “fellaited” doesn’t even have an erection… I mean, I’m not even here for gratuitous nudity, but why make it that insincere.
I was hesitant, but I am so glad I watched this one. This film tells the tale of two men who meet and fall in love over the course of one weekend. Both characters are easy to identify with and one of the major themes of the film is self acceptance and pride… like actual pride, not that nonsense everyone talks about. It’s touching. The characters go on quite the journey over these few days and you will also get at least one boner, so if you’re watching with a friend, put a pillow on your lap.
Rated: I didn’t expect that too be so good, also I got so into it, I thought it was my life for a second.
Watch this fucking movie. It will put things in perspective for you. One Israeli, one Palestinian and slew of complications conspiring to make their love impossible to enjoy. Very touching, both men are also particularly attractive, but that’s just a plus. You can really feel their love and anger and desperation, you will sincerely care about these characters.
Rated: I could only pray to find a love that deep and to be that great a person.
